[:en]If you didn’t know already, Lobster Shack is a family owned and operated business and we absolutely love it! So, anyone else that we hire, we want to fit in as part of the Thompson family and boy did we hit the ball out of the part with Mary! We want to shine a light on beautiful, happy Mary this month because if you haven’t met her yet, you should – she’s awesome!

Mary works in Lobster Shack’s customer service department so you’ve most likely seen her running around with a smile, hosting tours and setting up the café. She takes orders, delivers meals and coordinates our tours so she’s basically a super talented all-rounder that we couldn’t live without.

After recently graduating from Year 12, Mary started studying a Certificate III in Tourism.

Fun Fact: Mary grew up with her younger siblings on Wedge Island, a small island located slightly south of Cervantes off the WA coast. The island is surrounded by the beautiful waters of the Turquoise Coast and is part of a chain of about 40 islands. Mary grew up in one of the 350 beach shacks on the island, that were built by fishermen in the 1950s and 1980s!

A normal day for Mary includes wrapping crays and prawns for selling, working in the café and meeting the lovely and interesting customers and explaining the process and business of how our crayfish are caught and delivered to the factory for processing and exporting.

What does Mary consider her favourite part of the job?

“Every day I meet new people from all over the world. I hear about people’s travels, adventures and different cultures within. It’s the best working environment anyone could ask for.”

All in all, Mary is part of the family and we absolutely love that we get too see her smiling face every day! She’s motivated, passionate and loves learning about the family’s history of fishing. We know Mary has a very bright future ahead of her and we can’t wait to be a part of it!

So, the next time you’re up at Lobster Shack, make sure you say hi to Mary and tell her stories of your travels.[:]
